Dear Club President:
The year 2010-2011 has been an eventful
and successful year for Lions! Thank you for your leadership throughout!
There is no question that your club's actions have reinforced the fact
that Lions Clubs are the strength of our association. Globally and at the
local level, the opportunities for service have been met, and the world
and communities are much better for those efforts.
In support of International President Scruggs'
presidential theme - A Beacon of Hope, many of you have
taken part in the Service Commitment Pledge, in Global Service Action Campaigns,
and have reported your local activities through the Club Service Activity Report.
Your leadership will not end when your
term as president is completed at the end of June. We know that you
will work closely with your successor to maintain and strengthen your
club's obvious enthusiasm for service. One way in which you and your
successor as president can achieve that objective is to engage your club
in the Club Excellence Process (CEP).
The CEP is a proven workshop dedicated
to club improvement. Clubs that participate will look at their
community needs, review their membership experience, use existing
resources and develop action
plans. Through this process - taking a look at your
club's past, present and future - you will be able to enhance the
motivation and focus of your current members, and identify and attract
the attention of potential members who share in the club's vision and mission.
If you are unable to arrange a CEP
workshop prior to the end of your year, please work with next year's
president and your club's board of directors to have one early in the
2011-2012 year. As you plan for a CEP workshop, don't hesitate to
contact your district governor or district governor-elect for more
information, or e-mail Lions Clubs International at clubexcellenceprocess@lionsclubs.org.
Thank you again for continuing to be a Beacon of Hope!
Keep the light shining brightly and share it with others to make your
community and the world a better place - today, tomorrow, and always!
Sincerely,
Jim Ervin
